Fredrick Rosser, currently wrestling under the name of Darren Young in WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment), the largest wrestling federation in the world, has publicly stated that he is gay in a recent interview with TMZ.

During the interview Young was asked if a gay wrestler could survive in the WWE and his answer was “Absolutely. Look at me. I'm a WWE superstar and to be honest with you, I'll tell you right now, I'm gay. And I'm happy. I'm very happy."

Over the years there have been a few “gay” characters in professional wrestling, but Young is believed to be the first ever WWE superstar to “come out” while under contract. Several of his co-workers have expressed their support for him, including current WWE Champion, John Cena, calling it “wonderful”. WWE as a company has released a statement on the ordeal saying “… we will continue to support him as a WWE Superstar”.
