FightBox is proud to announce that King of Kings, one of the most recognizable brands of kickboxing, will return to live action from Tallinn, Estonia on Saturday October, 14th 2023 starting at 6:00 pm CEST (7:00 pm in Estonia).
King of Kings returns to one of its hotspots, the Estonian capital of Tallinn. This is a city with a long history in KOK, especially in the welterweight division. Over the years several WGP tournaments have happened here and also welterweight title fights. This year an eight-man tournament will take place with all fights happening in one night.
Lithuania’s Raimondas Avlasevicius won a four-man tournament one year ago in Tallinn and is currently the number one ranked KOK welterweight. He will face local hero Anmar Knuut in the quarter-finals. Also in the tournament is the hard-hitting Volodymyr Hynzu (ranked #4 welterweight) of Ukraine. Hynzu holds a victory over top Estonian fighter Hendrik Themas and also came close to defeating current champion Chico Kwasi in 2001 during a fight which went to an extra round. In the first round Hynzu’s opponent will be the aggressive Moroccan fighter Akram Belmikki (ranked #7 welterweight).
In another quarter-final match, Germany’s Mahmud Giahi will go up against Lithuania’s Ricardas Kulis. Giahi is one of Germany’s best welterweights and Kulis had an incredible fight with Estonia’s Alexsei Larin last year in Estonia. Both men are hungry to assert themselves in the tournament. Finally, the unpredictable Guillermo Blokland (ranked #8 KOK welterweight) of The Netherlands returns to KOK to take on Estonia’s Marko Sults (ranked #9 KOK welterweight). Both men have a history of amazing fights in KOK, but need a tournament victory to take their career to the next level. As has been said in King of Kings many times it’s “one night, one right, one champion”. Who will emerge the winner of the 2023 KOK Welterweight WGP tournament? Only the strongest will survive. The winner will receive a title fight against the current KOK Welterweight Champion Chico Kwasi. The full fight card for the evening can be found below.
