It promises to be a full night of kickboxing and MMA action in Russia’s capital as Alexander Emelianenko makes his return to the ring to face none other than “The Beast” Bob Sapp, a man with a more than questionable mixed martial arts record as of late. The card also features several of the top kick boxers in the world today, including Badr Hari, Artur Kyshenko, Dzhabar Askerov, Zabit Samedov, Yury Bessmertny and others.
In the main event Russia’s own Alexander Emelianenko (21 – 6), younger brother of the legendary Fedor, will return to the ring after being choked out by Jeff Monson last November. His opponent, Bob Sapp (11 – 16) comes into the fight having lost his last 10 MMA fights. Curiously, nine out of the past ten fights Sapp has participated in have ended in the first round with little to no damage being suffered by Sapp at all. Many expect that trend to continue in Moscow.
In the co-main event of the night Badr Hari (101 – 11) and Zabit Samedov (75 - 11) will square off for the third time in their careers. Hari was victorious in both previous fights, but Samedov vows that this time it will be different
“We met in Seoul in 2009, and three and a half years later in Zagreb. Now, I think, I'll be even better prepared for the fight.”
Ukrainian Artur Kyshenko (53 – 11) will take on Yuri Bessmertny of Belarus in a 71kg showdown. Bessmertny is coming into the fight off a loss at GLORY 7 in Milan versus David Kyria. Of his opponent, Kyshenko says:
“I know that Bessmertny is a strong fighter, and that he has improved his performance a lot lately. And what to expect? The ring will show it!”
Also on the card is a much anticipated 71kg fight between Dzhabar Askerov and Enriko Gogokhia, a rematch from 2011. This fight, along with the Kyshenko – Bessmertny fight is part of the four-man tournament scheduled for 25/05 in Moscow.
