FightBox is proud to announce that King of Kings, one of the most recognizable brands of kickboxing, will return to live action from Warsaw, Poland on Friday May, 21st 2021 starting at 7:00 pm CEST.
For the past year or so, KOK has endured the pandemic with a series of events called the “KOK Classic” featuring younger and local talent in the promotion’s home country of Lithuania. However, as COVID-19 regulations start to relax around Europe, King of Kings is heading back out on the road. The first stop is Poland, a country that has not hosted a KOK event since November of 2014.
The main event of the evening features a long overdue KOK World Heavyweight Title fight. The title has been vacant for several years now. The last time such a fight took place was in November of 2019 when Michał Turyński faced Martin Pacas for the Interim title. On that night Pacas came out the winner by decision. However, negotiations failed a few times to get him back in the KOK ring for a World Title opportunity and Pacas also signed with Glory Kickboxing. In the meantime, Turyński, a former Glory fighter himself, has now moved into the number one contender spot and will face Latvia’s Reinis Porozovs for the vacant World Title.
Both Turyński and Porozovs are former WAKO Pro World Champions. Turyński is definitely the more experienced fighter, but in a recent interview with KickboxingZ, Porozovs promised that he is in great shape and will be ready for Turyński’s awkward style.
There will also be several other familiar faces on the card including former KOK Middleweight contender Jurij Orlovs, Daniel Szott, Ilona Wojda and for the first time ever in KOK there will be a Sanda / Wushu rules fight at -80 kilos when Hubert Dylewski takes on Alan Beroud. All other fights are under standard KOK Kickboxing rules. The full fight card for the evening can be found below.
