Daniel Austin Appears on K1Anoop Podcast

Daniel Austin, the English commentator for FightBox HD who also acts as a journalist and podcaster for the channel, was recently a guest on the popular K1Anoop Podcast to discuss kickboxing. The podcast is hosted by Anoop Hothi, a kickboxing journalist who started the K1Anoop brand and also contributes for top fighting sports publications such as The Striking Corner, MMA Plus and Kickboxing Planet. He has broken many top stories in the sport.

In this episode of the K1Anoop Podcast, Daniel Austin, also known by his pro wrestling moniker “Don Roid”, discusses his thoughts on why kickboxing hasn’t reached the same level of popularity as other combat sports such as pro wrestling, MMA or boxing, saying “ … the best way to do that (grow popularity) is to try to get people emotionally invested in the product”. Then, drawing on his own background as a professional wrestler, promoter and trainer for over 15 years, he discusses how some of the things he’s learned on the entertainment side of combat sports could be applied to real fighting disciplines in order to generate popularity.

Austin goes on to address several topics related to Glory kickboxing. He touches on Glory 35 and the influence of Thai fighters in Glory. He then talks about how he got involved with FightBox TV and his thoughts on the Polish kickboxing scene, naming Dawid Kasperski as someone people should look out for.

“It’s storytelling. Everybody has a story and I like to try to get those stories out of people”

This is Don Roid’s reason for continuing to do his own podcast, The FightBox Podcast, which is now on its 117th episode and features interviews with top fighters from a plethora of different combat sports backgrounds.

The K1Anoop podcast produces regular new content several times per week and is available at www.k1anoop.tv. It can also be accessed on Youtube and other popular online platforms for podcasts.
